Global Students for Climate Justice

Global Students for Climate Justice is a CPGH-funded, youth-focused movement championing bold and equitable climate solutions. We strive to unite students from every continent to demand swift, evidence-backed change - all supporting the ICJ’s call for urgent climate action.

To meaningfully move the needle, we are clear in our call for an independent environmental summit where agreements pass with a 2/3 majority vote. The significance of this 2/3 model cannot be overstated. Consensus-based systems - including those used at COP meetings - have watered down and outright prevented ambitious climate action for decades. “Lowest common denominator" approaches remain wildly ineffective and are NOT sufficient to secure a livable future for all.

Additionally, we are pushing for progress toward legally binding commitments many nations have made on behalf of the environment. These include:

  • The Global Methane Pledge, through which countries agreed to reduce methane emissions by thirty percent by 2030;

  • The 30x30 Initiative, through which nations work to protect thirty percent of land and thirty percent of the ocean by 2030;

  • Key pledges made through the Paris Agreement.

All are voluntary and urgently need to be strengthened.
